ANBI

Pending the formal ANBI decision, we are already publishing the following information

Studio Nergens aims to develop, produce, and present transdisciplinary music theater and immersive art productions at the intersection of music, visual arts, and digital technology.

The foundation creates sensory and immersive experiences that center and actively involve the audience. With its work, Studio Nergens aims to invite the public to reflect on universal philosophical and existential questions about being human and reality.

Studio Nergens also aims to contribute to the renewal of the arts field, the sharing of knowledge and expertise, and the reaching of a diverse and broad audience at home and abroad. We are a non-profit foundation and we use our resources solely to achieve our cultural objectives.

Studio Nergens operates on a project-based basis, developing its productions within close-knit, transdisciplinary teams of artists and technicians. Artistic development, audience engagement, and technological exploration are central to the creative process.

The foundation presents its work in collaboration with theaters, museums, festivals, and cultural institutions in the Netherlands and internationally. In addition to performances, Studio Nergens organizes fringe programs such as lectures, public discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities.

In the period 2025–2028, Studio Nergens aims to:

  • develop and present innovative immersive performances and installations;

  • bridging the gap between music theatre and immersive media;

  • reaching new audiences through accessible and sensory art experiences;

  • contributing to artistic, social and technological innovation within the cultural sector;

  • sharing knowledge and expertise through workshops, lectures, public discussions and collaborations with educational and cultural institutions.

Studio Nergens stands for inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability. We promote diversity and representation in the immersive arts and technology sector, make our performances accessible to a wide audience, and produce with a focus on people and the environment.

Studio Nergens' activities are funded by:

  • subsidies from public funds;

  • contributions from co-production partners and presentation institutions;

  • income from ticket sales and performance fees;

  • incidental contributions and collaborations.

The foundation strives for a healthy financial basis in which public resources and its own income complement each other.

The Studio Nergens Foundation is structurally funded by the Performing Arts Fund.

cultural governance

The Studio Nergens Foundation uses a board-management model and endorses the Governance Code for Culture, the Diversity & Inclusion Code, and the Collective Labor Agreement for Theater and Dance.

The foundation is governed by an independent and unpaid board consisting of at least three members: a chairperson, treasurer, and secretary. The board is responsible for establishing policy, providing oversight, and ensuring the foundation's financial continuity. Daily and artistic management is delegated to the directors.

Board members are appointed for a three-year term and may be reappointed a maximum of two times. The board meets periodically, conducts an annual self-evaluation, and applies the four-eyes principle in financial decision-making.

Composition of the board

  • Ravian van den Hil – chairman

  • Katrien Sitters – treasurer

  • Marijke Hessels – secretary

The Studio Nergens Foundation has a set of rules, a schedule of resignation, and profiles for board members. The foundation also maintains established procedures to prevent (the appearance of) conflicts of interest.

The foundation publicly reports on its activities and finances through public publications, including the annual report and the annual accounts, in accordance with ANBI guidelines.
